nice to have you with us

I am sure there are some 'geeks' that will give you some advice as to where to purchase orchids being on a fixed budget one example would be to look at the big box stores we have a few 'geeks' that come home with some bargains and beautiful orchids as well

Hi and
One of the best ways I have found to fill a shade house is the raffle table at orchid society meetings. There are a few in the Orlando area and all the people I have met at meetings are freindly and usualy have a lot of info to helpya

Hi, and welcome to Orchidgeeks!!

I also have a shadehouse, so would love to see some pics of yours. In Australia, I buy lots of my orchids from the local flea markets.

Welcome!!!!!!!! You can get some great deals on orchids at big box stores. I got my most recent phal (a Black Jack) at my local grocery store for under $10. Just look around and even online they have some good deals.

I live part time 30 miles north of Orlando............and I have found some decent Orchids at Flea Markets.....................near Leesburg and Mt. Dora.................pretty inexpensive, especially compared to the northern prices I see in Illinois....good luck!

Hi, thanks for the info I have gone to Renningers in Mt. Dora 3 times now and have come back with some great orchids at great prices. So far they have been healthy. Also got some work tea there and am going to try it on a few plants to see how it works. Thanks again for your help

The cheapest ones to buy are usually a while off flowering size. But it is one way of expanding a collection on a budget.

The flowering size ones will come at a higher price but reward you quicker with blooms.

One thing to beware of - some backyarders who will sell at bargain prices could be unintentionally selling virused plants. Reputable stores generally eliminate this problem.
