Introduction

This is to introduce myself to Orchidgeeks.

I am the owner of only six orchids - two hard cane Den., one D. Nobile, two phalaenopsis and one Ctna. I live in the dry tropics where we are presently in early summer. Temperature currently around 90f with humidity around 60%. It will get much hotter as summer goes on and, when the Wet comes, humity will be in the high 90s (these are inside temps - my orchids live largely indoors - though the dens go out on the verandah during the day to get extra light).

In these parts most people attach their orchids to trees and leave them alone. But every time I try this the possums eat the buds.

I am a keen gardener, but not a successful orchid grower. However, I have no questions at this stage as I am still working through past treads.

Thanks for your help

Townsville

WelcomeTownsville - glad to have you as part of the group here. If you don't mind, update your profile and include where you live so that people can see where you live when they are responding to your posts - in some cases in can make a difference in what people recommend or how they respond. To some degree we all have to vary our care somewhat depending upon where we live and what kind of conditions we have our orchids in - home, greenhouse, sunroom, etc. Orchids that do well in southern Florida may not do good in Alaska, etc. Look forward to hearing about how orchids are grown/thrive where you live - obviously very different than where I live.....

Hi Townsville. Welcome to the forum. Sounds like the environment, especially the humidity level, you live in is the kind orchids love. I hope you'll have some pics to share in the near future.
