introduction I am a professional photographer (which just means I make my living by photographing events) but have always adored flowers and orchids. I have images of many on my website, but I wanted to learn more about the care of orchids. I have galleries of flowers on my website www.photobylinda.com but I mostly shoot for traveling sports teams. I am grateful to have found this group! Linda

I believe I found orchidgeeks.com thru google with the search phrase "orchid forum". I'll be honest I checked out other orchid forums - and, whew, they were way over my head and very intimidating to me. Sprewing all those scientific names and 'what do you mean you didn't' type post, not to mention the 'it's probably from this family and it's great grandpappy is'....altho I do respect the knowledge, research and time spent into the study of orchids, I don't even know who my great, great, great Grandfather is - much less an Orchid's. I was afraid that my joy in my first paph - 'Wardii' would get overlooked and ridiculed. I don't know all the terms and since he's bloomed, I'm not even sure he's the Chocolate Wardii I thought I bought - talk about what would have been a truly embarrassing moment on another forum, but I don't care - he bloomed. I truly appreciate everyone's patience with my learning curve and please don't hesitate to correct. I know initially I posted something about petals, and have sinced learned that they are sepals. (BTW - if you know of a good representation of the parts of orchid, let me know - I'm still trying to figure out the proper name for the little stem piece that attaches the flower from the 'crown' to the actual flower - as you can see I need help.) I am most appreciative of Jerry, his patience and tone with what I'm sure are terribly basic questions have been most helpful to me. And Janet cracks me up and I enjoy Cynthia's experience too. Oh, while I'm doling out kudos - I really like the way the forum is set up. I belong to a number of different forums and this by far is the most user friendly and easily navigated. I like the quick reply with ability to go advance, that we can even post pictures, the error msgs when your file is too large, etc and most importantly the EDIT button!!! I look forward to "growing" with the forum. Kath- Last edited by taradale; 05-17-2006 at 07:41 PM.

I was given a phalaenopsis for Mother's Day. My husband broke a branch (it had 3!) carrying it in the house. I was looking for a websit devoted to orchid care to see what to do. I used ASK.com to find you.
