Greetings from Zone 17 (Pacific Coast, CA)

Hello Fellow Geeks
I'm from Santa Cruz, CA. I've been taking in stray orchids for two years now. My orchid collection is in my home on various shelves facing south - no special grow lights, heaters, misters, humidifiers, or other gizmos yet - but am thinking of a small greenhouse setup to fiddle around in. Any other Bay Area growers with recommendations on how to slowly expand my hobby without it taking over my life (yet)? Lathhouse? Lean-to? Small GH?

Thanks!

Welcome bonnober!
I envy you. Our daughter is in her fourth year of graduate school in your fair city - it must be about the closest thing to heaven on earth? Lucky duck! :-) There is an orchid society in town - here is their web site - I would recommend you checking them out - they will have lots of great ideas for growing orchids in "your back yard". :-) http://www.yourtownmontereybay.com/m...i?group_id=237 Good luck and keep in touch! mike

Post Traveling around Europe

Hi, guys
I am going to go to Italy, but I don't know which cities to visit
Could you give me some advice?
Perhaps you have been to this country, if yes, where exactly and which hotels did you stay?
Lots of thanks

You might want to repost this in "General Chat" to get more responses. Wish I had some suggestions for travel for you but alas someone here probably will.....

Hi bonnober! I'm a bay area transplant here in central valley...only been here for 2 1/2 years.

I, too, keep my orchids in my house and am looking into an indoor greenhouse for my small to medium sized ones. Hopefully, I can have one before I go on a 3-week vacation next May! Or else, I might have to put together some kind of drip system in and around my biggest bathtub and surround them with several humidifiers. Haha...
