Hi, I received an email from someone replying to my call for help, and as a new user to your site, I could not get access to reply; also I am having trouble navigating your site. I finally got help from the web site and am now able to log on again. please whoever emailed me to ask how they could help, please do so again and I will be delighted to email my question.

Thank you, I thought I'd lost you, could not get access. Don't understand these "thread" things? I only started with my 1st Orchid June 2005, now I have ten. Into my third blooming, which incidently is spectacular, on the one orchid, 16 blossoms and way more to come, I wonder what to do with all these tuber things, I believe they are roots, as I read for storing food & water ? they are coming up out of my pot and I have so many of them, what do I do with them? All of my others have the same thing too. In fact I thought that one of them was a flower stem and I staked it up, then I had to release it when I realized i was not (book information), but did not tell me what to do.
Can you advise? thanks, sorry if I am too long winded. Let me know if there are any rules. I hope to have my digital camera up and running this next weekend so If you are interested maybe I can email pics.

Lots of air roots growing indicate your phals are happy! :-) Enjoy them. Phals in the wild grow on trees and this is what they want to do as part of their normal existance - throw out lots of air roots. Part of enjoying orchids is enjoying watching the leaves and roots grow just as much as being wow'd by the blooms. Every few years when you repot you can put some of them into the media if you wish - but otherwise just let them be. Yes, we all LOVE to have pictures to look at and enjoy other people's accomplishments. Feel free to either email me directly if you want to converse one on one or continue with questions on this thread or start another - lots of good help here. By the sound of it - looks like you are doing a lot of things right already! mike

I totally agree with Mike about the roots. And, yes, please post some pics when you get a chance.
