![]() ![]() Did you get a shelf yet? How are you going to hide these with the others, LoL. I guess you can just "fluff" the leaves so that everything looks "big" and when your shipment comes in stash it in the pile.

I think I have all the plants on the original list. I just did not have enough the same size to make a good project without buying fresh plants. The list was mostly the same plants I buy for every show in the 2 inch size. I usually sell about 150 each show this size and keep reordering. I will be placing another order next week for my own inventory. When I take plants to outdoor shows they can get beaten up and they go back on the shelf for a month to two. One or two members asked me about their wish lists and I will soon get back to them about which ones I have. The problem with odds and ends is I know I have them but no idea where. I was surprised yesterday that an orchid I love and have been unable to buy for two years, turned up alive and growing well in the greenhouse, when I thought it died two years ago. Ignoring plants sometimes works best.

janice I had a customer who used to sneak them in the house and when her husband asked if it was new she said she it was one she had, without saying how long. Until the day she bought 10 at once.

Definitely all 3 of the following for me regardless of which orchid is selected for the project. Dend. Cathy Beck Dend. Oriental Smiles Milt Earl Dunn |

I'm getting anxious to get started on this project. Jerry, when do you think we will be able to order? Are you swamped with the species project orders right now I passed up some really nice baskets of Sogo Grape phals today because I kept thinking I could get them from you

OK - The project plant is Den Cathy Beck, The Phal Naples Nights and the Encyclia were second and third. I will be potting these in varius ways as three control groups. This gives me a way to continue as a part of the project. (Am I cheating since the first Encyclia has already send up a spike.) The Den Cathy Beck that I will be shipping all have two mature pseudobulbs and at least one old flower spike from last season. They were all treated with superthrive and worm tea. All my plants get worm tea twice a month I just got back from the GreenFest show at the Univ of Tampa. I actually have next weekend off so lets plan on shipping next Monday. I can accept all credit cards, but you can send checks if you prefer. I will be answering all the emails I received over the next two days. If anyone sends me an email and does not get an answer within 48 hours, contact me again. I usually answer emails fast. (except for the last two weeks. - Scott yours has been the most delayed.) Tolumnia are in bloom big time. They are very inexpensive and a good beginner plant (or experienced). This does cause growers to be less careful with name tags. Probably 2/3 of the ones I hand pick do not have name tags, they are just the prettiest plants I could find. (in general my plants have 2-5 flower spikes on 2-4 plants in a 2 inch pot) So that makes selling them over the INTERNET hard, but they sell easy when someone is looking at them. It also makes it difficult for me to buy the same plant twice. A single row of these tiny plants may have 5000 blooming plants (not grouped just assorted everywhere) . I just grab the prettiest ones. I will post a group of photos into the gallery today and send them by email to everyone who sent me an email address. I also got a group of species Paphs I did not order with the Phals so the shipper is reducing the price and I will offer them at wholesale, I do not want to have to ship them back as it was only 12 plants. My new 72 foot greenhouse was installed yesterday so I have 6000 orchids ordered for next month alone. And this does not include the flowering plants for the three big shows in April. I feel like a new parent. We have not even put the shade cloth over the greenhouse yet and I am already planning the next one. I am sending a email to the group today, so if you do not get one it is because I do not have your email address. I will still post in this thread (do we need a new thread for growing experiences that is not so long???) but this way no one misses something buried in the thread.

Great job, Jerry! In one of the early posts you mentioned packing other things like worm tea, support stakes, baskets, in the same flat rate box. Are you putting together an item and price list on those? |
| ||||
|
Normpk I listed the worm tea before and it is lost in a thread somewhere. 4 oz $5; pint $10; qt $18 half gallon $28 and gallon $42 Hydro pellets $1 pound - about 4 pounds fits nicely and pots about 6 4 inch pots Bark (fine or medium) .75 a pound I do not know how much will fit as it is light. Other things I will have to look up the price, just let me know what you want. Today's request was 4 inch Vanda baskets 2.50 with hanger I can get a lot of things in a flat rate shipping box.

I think I got carried away in the heat of the moment! I think I'm going to back out of the hybrid orchid project this time. My weather is just changing from winter to spring and that means Spring Fever! My outside gardens monopolize my spring and early summer and I would hate to neglect new inside babies. I'll be very interested to see how everyone's project orchids grow. Maybe next time.... Marcia |

Sorry, but I've been away from this thread for awhile. Am I suppose to e-mail Jerry with my order? Need some instructions for ordering. Thanks!

Sharyn~ Just send Jerry and email, that's what I did.

I am sooooo getting weak! can't...join...one....more...project...... I have the species project (and five other babies I was FORCED to add to the order) Heavens, I just hate Oak Hill, can't you tell???? The Fdk. 'After Dark' bulbs I pick up in San Diego on Friday, and I bid on five orchids from Ellens estate sale. Enough, Connie, Enough!!!!! Right??? Enough??? These group projects are just so much fun...... I have outside gardening to do as well with quite a few plants to replace. Even though we are sunny year round, spring and fall are still the best time to plant. I need to get them in the ground before it gets too hot, both for my benefit and the plants. That's it; I've made up my mind. No more orchids for a while!!!

Sharyn, E-mail Jerry (jerrymeola@hotmail.com) and he will send you your total. Then you either do the credit card thing or send a check to Jerry Meola Pelican Coast Farms, Inc. 4360 Orange River Loop Road Ft. Myers, Fla. 33905-5815 If you need some supplies, he probably can help you out and will give you a price for whatever...

| I concur. Im about to close on a house and am strapped for cash for the moment and have a wife who's looking at me like Im nutz for considering ordering any orchids due to the timing of it all. But Im doing it anyway. I'll only have $25 to play with but that will give me 3 orchids. I cant get 3 noid orchids at home depot for $25 let alone something like we're being offered.

Jenny did not mention that she ordered the Rdcm Blushing Angel x Rrm Mystique 'Strawberry Daiquiri' and then changed her mind to the Rdcm Blushing Angel x Rrm Mystique. I had sold both so went looking for whatever I could offer her. I found one of the NOID pots with the spotted flowers of Rdcm Blushing Angel x Rrm Mystique staring up at me. Then when I lifted it out the Rdcm Blushing Angel x Rrm Mystique 'Strawberry Daiquiri' was growing in the same pot. Now that is a good omen to start the project. By the way Jenny there is a third non-flowered plant in the pot.

Help! I don't know if I"m missing the instructions because of temproary drug haze (I take 14 perscription pills each morning, 4 more in the afternoon and 5 before bed) or the permanent haze but could I be directed somewhere to step by step instructions on what we do with these once we get them? I think we're supposed to repot them? But I'm a beginner and haven't repotted anything yet. I'm not feeling well this morning so it may be just 'today' that I'm having problems but I would still appreciate if someone could kind of direct me along. ![]() I know I need to email Jerry about what orchids I want, thankfully he listed the worm tea amounts, for everything else I'll just have to ask for however much stuff I need to replant the orchids and let him determine the amounts. I sure don't know. |

Thanks Jenny & Patti for the ordering info. Placed my order this morning. I know that some of you are ordering the Phal Sogo Grape. I could not get a picture in this thread - no manage attachments button Don't know how Sandra got a pic in this thread, but I posted a picture of my Sogo Grape in the forum. It's a very pretty and unusual color. |

Very glad to hear that I'm not the only one who went a little overboard. I got seven orchids and two Vanda baskets for less than half of what I payed for a smaller number of plants this past weekend!!And I fully sympathize about your wife--I was going to try and sneak the new plants past my husband, but just told him instead. We both realize that the three days it takes to water (I just don't have time to water them all at once) is starting to put a limit on the numbers I will buy from now on... But I still can't wait to get Jerry's chids--part of it is because we got such a good deal

Well, the winning plant is $4, right? I was going to buy more but I just got hit in the face with a new insurance perscription change. The price of renewing 4 perscriptions went from $48 to $87. |
