Cayenne

Dear Orchid Friends,

Yesterday morning, I took my beautiful Cayenne (9 years old, female, wire-haired fox terrier) to the veterinarian for euthanasia ("good death").

Cayenne was diagnosed more than 20 months ago with myasthenia gravis and megaesophagus. She had a very happy life.

Oh, I am so sorry, for you and Cayenne. It is so very difficult to make that decision.

Oh, Stitz, dogs truly are man's (and women's) best friend. They unconditionally love. I am so sorry for your loss but I bet you have 9 years of many wonderful memories with her to comfort you.

I am so sorry.....
It's not easy to find an empty house after they are gone. They tend to fill it up with love and affection, like nobody else.....
I am glad she was loved back...........

To my Dear Orchid Friends,

Thank you for the comfort and sympathy messages that you sent to me. I really appreciate each one. I am very grateful for your thoughts. I am humbled.

I provided my companion with a "good death" (euthanasia). It provided relief for my pet companion.
------------------------------
Today, I read an email which made my day. A woman in Illinois who read about Cayenne's final pain-relief medication through an internet support group, shared with me that she told her veterinarian about Cayenne's story. Her vet agreed to prescribe the same medication for her dog. The dog in Illinois showed immediate improvement!

Can a sad story have a happier ending?

I'm so sorry for your loss, my pets are my kids and my dog is my world. I can only imagine how hard this was for you..... I to would choose to not let any suffer if it came to that, most hang on and wait for their own need rather than the pets. I'm glad you had 9 blessed years with your baby : )
