| It's about our Kevin or kmarch....
Hi all, On Monday night I attended a concert with Orchestra Victoria. Fortunately I was there when kmarch received a significant award for an orchestral piece he created. I hope he doesn't mind if I bring this up. But I will anyway. There were 6 of us who went along and it was an amazing concert which included Rachmaninov, Tchaichovsky and more. But, the most amazing part was being apart of a new orchestral premiere by a living composer I actually knew. I don't think people realise how talented and learned 'our' Kevin actually is. He presented a piece called 'Kambarang' which represented a season for the Australian native people in a part of Western Australia. I was extremely impressed how 'Australian' the piece sounded considering Kevin is from Detroit. Obviously he can interpret and 'feel' how people experience particular seasons no matter where they are from. I think this is a sign of real talent. It was not only a pleasure but an experience I don't ever expect to have again in my lifetime. For this Kevin I thank you, it is a stunning piece of music that will stand the test of time and I feel very lucky for one of the few times in my short life. I think you will get even better and I look forward to hearing more sometime soon. Darren P.S. But what I also want to know is how many orchid you might buy with your award??? I wait in anticipation.....;-) P.P.S. I have heard that composition isn't something that is easily taught, it's more likely it's something you are born with. For that alone I think we should applaud him.

its good that Kevin has received the recognition that he deserves  I can still remember driving 3 hours to Hobart to meet Kevin some time ago when he was in Hobart Kevin and I had a ball catching up we had a walk and a coffee Kevin had to work and I drove another 3 hours back home I am privileged to know Kevin  Kevin has a gift and he is very talented well done Kevin  thanks for letting us know Darren  |

Kevin has a lot of his compositions on his Web site, so everyone can enjoy his talent, and Australia is all the luckier that he has chosen our country as his own. I always said he was not just a pretty face.

 Oh my!!! I'm...well a little bit at a loss for words... I promise I didn't put Darren up to this.  I'm really happy that you liked the piece. And wow, 6 of you went!?!? Who all went? That's so cool.I have to say it was a real privilege and an honor to have been chosen for that award and to have had my orchestra piece done by OV. Thanks Darren for bringing this to our attention. Kevin, what an honor this must be for you. I have a love of classical music and to be able to compose and win an award for your composition. Ican't even imagine. But obviously well deserve.

Congratulations Kmarch ... excellent work! They don't play mediocre work at a concert like that, so it was a well deserved honor. Ooooh, but no "plants" at this point to buy orchids?....  Sounds like a freudian slip to me, good thing you didn't say composting software.....
