| Cathy Beck update Well It hasn't bloomed yet, maybe from adjusting to the new environment? But so far it seems to be doing good. The new growth has grown just a hair. The leaves look like they are beginning to shrivel a little but the canes look good and I added a skewer. The very top bud was bunched up with the one right below it so they are starting to spread out and I thing the spike has gotten a little taller.

| It is finally Happening!!!! Well, I am one happy kid today, lol! My Bad day turned around when I got home from work! Check It!: you can see it beginning to open! It is more reddish like the one in Jerry's picture (btw Jerry is right). This thing has taken of if you look closely just beneath the new growth you can see one of the new roots it has developed in the last week. And that's not all, It has something growing inside that new growth, I think it's a new leaf. Yay! Me so happy! Hee Hee And I was so worried that they would all blast because the last few days have been pretty dry except during the sporadic hail and rain. There are more pictures, I'm waiting for it to upload I'm on dial up tonite I got a huge humidifier at a garage sale outputs 12 gal in 24 hrs for two bucks! And I got two air purifiers for 50 cents a piece, just needs new filters. ok its done nowIt's kinda hard to tell how reddish the bloom is from the picture because of the lighting but it is not as pink as some of the pictures make it look. I litterally screamed when I turned around and saw that it was beginning to open. I had been home for 5 hours before I noticed, shame on me! I could have posted this sooner! I am in total suspense waiting for the rest to open! Jerry Thanks a bunch! With all the craziness going on between school, work, and home this has been a real pick me up! ok, that's all for tonite! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

| Den Cathy Beck is not deciduous. I did see literature that growing any cane Dendrobium in too dry or too cool a situation will cause it to drop leaves as if it was deciduous. I also find that Dendrobiums younger than three years old lose a lot more leavers than older plants. All the details about it are at this location Hawaiian Floral Nursery: University of Hawaii cultivars Peak flowering season for this plant is Oct to Feb.
