My Beck

I've been keeping it like I do my baby Catts, water once a week. i have it on a stand in the south east corner where 2 windows on each wall are. I fertilize with Schultz's orchid food twice a month. She dropped her leaves. they just turned yellow, dried up some & fell off. I had not repotted her since I got her. I checked and sure enough dead roots. The canes are plump and has good color and theres 3 new roots coming in. I moved it to a s/h pot that my Psychopsis outgrew when I bought it in it. I have the clay wet but no standing water until it adjusts to the new media. Im getting new growth on the 2 Cattleyas I received with her. Sorry I didnt take pics while repotting, my wifes got the camera packed up for a family get together with out of state relatives tomorrow. The pic was taken during a walk thru before we had settlement on the new house.

Hmmm.... Is it where it gets direct light from the windows, or is it more in the corner? Mine gets direct light for about half the day. I need to water it every day because of it, but it seems to be doing well. Hope everything is going well in the new house. It takes a while to get settled in!

tell me about it. I have it on the left side of the stand so it may be getting more eastern light and less southern. that & with the move and unpacking and all...maybe I missed something. I moved her to the middle so she'll be in a better southern exposure. I still need to build the new stand for them. The one they're on is 3' wide so I end up having to juggle chids around at soaking time.

I'm picturing orchids being juggled! I think your Cathy Beck will do better with strong light. Mine is right on a south windowsill. I just have to make sure she doesn't cook, so I water her every day. I think I see where a spike might be starting. I sure hope so! Good luck with yours. BTW how's your seed pod doing????

Its great. and Im getting anxious. 4-6 months is the maturation average for Catts and on 6/20 it'll be 4 months.

Some of the flasking places that I've looked into won't take a pod that's opened. I think you can tell if it starts to yellow I'll be watching your step by step post!
