R.I.P. Cathy Beck

Still can't post pics in the hybrid thread, so I'm posting them here.

Well, my poor little Den Cathy Beck had a doggie experience. His tail knocked the pot over and then he decided to play with it like a frisbee. All the leaves are gone now. Poor little thing only had two good leaves and now I see that the roots are all dried up. I'm not sure if it's even worth the trouble to try and save. I guess I could try a sphag & bag.

Yes, I can give it a try. I forgot about Daniel's formula and I've used it several times in the past successfully. I really don't have anything to lose so it's worth a try.

I'm giving it a soak and will give it a few weeks; otherwise, it's off to orchid heaven. On a positive note, I'll have an extra little plastic pot!

Sandra: just saw your post! I also had to laugh when I saw how Cyrus played frisbee with my new orchid. Although I was mad at him, I still had to laugh when I saw him chasing my little tiny orchid around the living room.

Sandra/Sharyn - I love your positive attitudes! Sometimes we just need to laugh when tragedy (oh, the drama) strikes.

I, too, laughed when I saw the R.I.P. sign. I could just picture HOW LONG it took Sharyn to built this little cross with a smirky grin on her face. Or am I just imagining things??

I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. (I'm sorry, it is funny. ) My ribs still hurt. I had a hard time looking for the revive recipe, laughing sooo much.

I don't know of the other jinxed Cathy Beck. Who's else fell victim?

Sharyn -- It's still green! So not dead...yet. Keep us posted after you use the revive recipe.

Hummer -- Who were the others that fell victim?

I don't have to deal with teenagers or dogs. My cats know that if they go near my orchids the squirt guns come out ( I don't believe in that "three-on-a-match" thing.) My Cathy Beck is going to be fat and happy...I hope

Oh no that wasn't Den. Cathy Beck in the pillow fight. That was Den. Yellow Song 'Canary'. My Cathy Beck is doing great, fat and happy too. (Sorry Sharyn )

Maybe just Dens in general that's jinxed.

I stand corrected. Its the Den's that have the jinx, not a particular species/grex.

Sharyn, sorry to hear about your Den. I must say that I got a kick out of the cross you made. Will you say a few words before you get rid of it if it does die.

Sharyn, looks like some of my influence has rubbed off.

Don't despair, try the magic formula, if that don't work, try sphag n bag.

ONLY when the PS turn totally yellow, have they lost the plot. Hang n there girl.

I had a laugh over this earlier, sounds like my Bob. My daughter caught him burying her favorite scarf in the backyard today, she left it in the back room (the dog room which they run in and out of to the back yard), and he decided it needed to be buried. She freaked out, and cried...

As for jinxes, does it count that my daughter has decided to move all my plants around when I am not home? I realized it too late, all my new growth is kind of zig zagging, and my Mtdm. opened a bloom upside down and backwards looking, this is when I realized it was not sitting facing where it had been originally while the blooms were forming. ARRRGH. When I asked her she said she thought that the other sides of the plants deserved light too not just the one side I was allowing (ALLOWING) them to have. When I tried to explain to her what she had done she said "Well it's not right to treat them that way Mom, how are they going to grow?" To which I promptly said "Well honey, straight hopefully." I got an eye roll.

Oh and Sharyn, the cross is great, soooo funny.

Brook, it is bad enough that our kids don't understand us at the best of times, but when you have an orchid passion as well, well all sensibilities and good sense goes out the window.

Let's face it, "they just don't understand us".

I know, and yet I constantly hear that I don't understand them, I have decided that sometimes I slip into gibberish.

Oh, Sharyn, the cross, hahahahahahahahaha, still laughing. I'm so sorry to hear of the frisbee contest. You have made my morning, though. Good luck on revival.

After being out shopping all day I came home to my husband who said "Oh by the way, while you were gone I watered your orchids. They looked dry." Now every time I come home from someplace its "Oh by the way, while you were gone...... I moved your orchid log so it could get some sun."

He got me the first time. It's not funny any more.
