This orchid was literally an orphan left at my door step last summer. I had many that would appear at my door, sometimes orchids and sometimes other tropicals.


She was unloved and abandoned. Her only fault- vanished blooms. I took her in on blind faith. She was soggy and hadn't seen light. She took a few steps back and then a few steps forward, dropping a few leaves along the way.
I put her in catt light (~3000 FC's) so she would get healthy and stable.

I call her "Princess".
She is giving me an even dozen white "Butterflies"
Her buds have the irredescence of pearls. Even though I don't raise Phals any longer I have enjoyed her immensley. Here is another shot of the Butterfly flurry. Now that she is rehabbed she will have a new home with someone who can appreciate her.

Hi Clara, I think that your pics are of such a quality that you should be offering them in the open class! They are as good as anything I have seen in the monthly comps. Good stuff, in my humble opinion.

Bill thanks! I rather like this little orphan standard phal. The photos don't do her justice. I have about 20 of her and I just can't get the "pearl" shimmer. It amazes me what people choose to abandon, although whomever did it did the right thing. For a time I would get orphans at my door frequently. Its tough to say anything new photgraphically about phals. Somehow they have their own voices

Does the date stamp that my camera leaves on the pics hurting my photos chances to win in these competitions? If so how can I hide/remove it without butchering the pic or getting one of them expensive photo programs.

Patti, Your photo is great in the monthly comp. Where did you get the Neofinetia falcata 'Syojou'?

I promised myself, "no more" so I ordered a Dendrobium moschatum from Oak Hill instead. I'll stop after this neo. Go figure....

That is a great photo. Love the subtle color. I'm curious what the rest of the label says.. "The Orchid something...." ? I should get on the stick and label my photos. It would be a great record keeping addition.

You can remove the date stamp by changing your camera's defaults. I don't know which camera you're using, but they're pretty much the same (at least the small digital point'n'shooty kind); just find the Menu and turn off the date and time stamp.

I was just passing on what I knew as an FYI in case the OP found it useful - I know I'm in no position to say anything about photography or contests!

The photos this month are spectacular! Its the best month yet. I'm really inspied to take more photos when I am all moved in!
