Can you enter a pdf file for the contes? My jpgs always end up so small.

If you use an application like Preview, iPhoto, Photoshop, or even JPEG View you can resize the image to any size you want.

if you wish to show you photos bigger than an attachment one will need to upload into an image host like photobucket then copy and paste the [IMG] code

I create in Photoshop. Can I upload a pdf for the contest?

If you use Photoshop you can resize your pictures (both in terms of their area and file size and then export then in standard image formats like jpg. There's no need to make them into pdfs. Besides I've tried to upload pdfs on a number of occasions, articles, judging sheets, etc. an have found them to be problematic, not as easy to upload as image formats and without as satisfying a result.

I'd really love to join in but have no idea what to class myself as!
I've been interested in photography for the last 18 month and use a very basic compact camera. I'm self taught but have practiced a lot and sometimes "play" in photoshop for effects. I've read over the photography sticky and yes I do take time to consider composition, it may however not always be to everyones tastes!
I would still class my self as a novice but don't want to break any rules so thought I'd ask about the level you guys thought given my experience and to ask if, being a newbie to the site, it was ok for me to join in?

I just took a quick look at the pictures and I am really impressed by all the beautiful orchids you have. Besides this I am also impressed that you guys are all great photographers. Unfortunately I am not that good but I will try my best to get a good picture of my orchid. Hopefully it work and I can show you a great pic.

Well pooh! I had a couple I was going to enter and forgot in the rush to get it together to get out of town. Now I'm just remote on a laptop and won't be back home until the 6th. Oh well, I don't have a lot that will happen in July so there is always next month to post them. I will also miss the opening of my encyclia while I'm away.

Your going to miss your Encyclia opening?!? Nooo!!! That stinks! I hope you are able to get some pics of it when you get back.
