Woo hoo, I am the first to "chit chat" I guess! I entered a couple in which I thought were good. I was just goofing around during my two year old's naptime and snapped these of my NOID phal. It is my VERY FIRST rebloom and I am so happy I was able to get my phal to spike and bloom! (I was so worried this fall when everyone else was getting spikes I was not! Finally in November I noticed a spike I have been keeping photographic track of the spike's progress in my album.)

I guessed myself as intermediate as I have "some" experience with a camera, though not much! Anyway, Fred, if you have any questions for me ask away!!!

I have two photos entered right now. I don't think I will get a third in. This is the first time I entered. Any one else's first time entering?

I think when I re-read the rules it states 3 photos in a category... so that would mean you could have 3 photos of "species" ... plus 3 photos of your skill level (novice, intermediate or open) ... plus 3 photos in "floral display" ... plus 3 photos in that other category (can't remember the official title) where you play with the color or shape or whatever to manipulate the photo from what it was originally.

But as I read the rules to say you cannot have more than 3 photos of any one category... right?

If I am reading it correctly it is 3 entries per entrant which means the person entering the photos. I did not see anywhere that would indicate 3 photos per category.

So sorry Charlie... I guess either it was changed or I mis-read it. I had read the rules a month or so ago when all the pics were being posted & I chatted about it in the Feb. chat thread. I read the rules way back when I first started posting pics in the competition thread & had thought it was a 3 photo max. back then...

I coulda sworn that it read 3 per category when I looked last month for clarification ... but i've read it again just now & it reads per member.

I stand corrected.

We do have some NICE photos. I think it is so cool to see everyone's photographic style. You can learn quite a bit by just looking at the pics. Very nice everyone.

All the pics are great this month! I entered for the first time last month and I am going to enter again at the weekend when I have taken some more pics.

I have yet to explore or even look at my new camera I got at Christmas. I am a technology dud. I have not had time to sit and devote a full time review/lesson. (I've got more excuses too) I never really learned the Olympus I use now. The new one was unexpected, and I guess I wasn't ready for it. But I guess I better get to it; make sure it works and all.

Hey, Lynne, what brand of camera did you get? My DH got me a camera too, and I found the manual to be woefully inadequate. I bought a book specifically for my camera (a Sony) on Amazon, and learned a lot. Some slow gowing at times, but if helped if I read it with camera in hand.

Looks like a decent amount of folk so far, it usually picks up within the last few days of the month! Great shots from everyone so far!

Hey Katherine. It is a Nikon D3000. Still haven't looked at it. But the taxes are now done, so that is one excuse completed.

It helps to cut back on the # of spammers.

yokurt I am not trying to come across as rude but why are you worried when you have #9 posts
getting to #5 posts is not a very hard thing to do

I would rather have a good clean forum than to let spammers run free on a site that I consider to be one of the best

LOL!! The picture i sent of my Phal was detached from my plant.. Dog attack as well.. -.-

I think Fred said they would wait until a couple days into April because of all the time differences. It is done by a secret judge

I am about to close the March thread and start the April Thread

I get the Secret Judge to give me the decisions and I place the awards

I had to extend the time of the closing of the thread because of the time difference between here and the States
sometimes I forgot that the States is behind my time so to be fair to 'all' its been extended
