Hello All,

Fred asked me to post a reminder that photo comp participants should be sure to post their skill level (novice, intermediate, or open) along with their entry. They need not indicate any of the other categories. Their entries will automatically be considered for all other categories for which they qualify. But be sure to indicate your skill level.

DT, the collection of phal species is fun in itself. There are so many you have to keep an inventory so you can remember what you have and what you need!

If I can help, give a hollar.

Same here, and I've really been getting deep into the Phal species addiction.

Hey, Renee! The tabulare has grown the best of all, but all in vegetation...I'm hoping that means I'll get some crazy awesome flowering next year. It's probably still not big enough to split, but you will get a division when it's ready!

OMG! I decided to go take a peak since you asked...a flower spike! wooo-hoooo!!!!! I'll post some pics in a new thread so's not to clog the Sept. chitchat. Dance of joy...

I'm using the Canon 5D mk2 and a 100mm or 180mm macro lens to do the shoot. Mostly i use the 100mm as the working distance is much nearer compared to the 180mm. I mount the camera on tripod and set it to timer mode while i hold the flashes in place (like an octopus). I practise the term of what you see is what you get (WYSIWYG) so 95% of the time whatever is seen on camera is posted. The rest of the 5% are done in PS, such as resizing the image for web posting, cropping the photo (minimum) and perhaps a dash of calibration (salt and pepper) to enhance the taste.

Cheers!
