Masdevallia/Dracula's

I've been hunting around for these, but haven't found a very wide selection online. If anyone has had a good experience with someone who sells these, or comes across a site which carries them, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks!

Mountain Orchids in Vt. has a nice selection of Masd. and Draculas. A little on the pricey
side but a pretty good overall selection.

Zero, Have you tried Hausermann's Orchids in Villa Park, Ill (right in you neck of the woods)? They only have one dracula (Dracula robledorum- their code is CH-18377) and they have only a half dozen Masdevallias, but they might have what you are looking for...The link is Welcome to Orchids By Hausermann On-Line Orchid catalog.

I've been spending a lot of time looking at their on-line catalogue, but unless you can get a seedling or a clearance item, their prices are not cheap

Hope you find what you are looking for

I'm shocked that you couldn't find Masdevallias and Draculas online. I don't know how thorough your search was but they're all over the place.

The 2 biggest I know are J&L Orchids and Lynn O'Shaunesey (sp?).

I recently recieved a WONDERFUL shipment of Masds and dracs from Columbian Orchid Imports out of California. It took several months to get here, due to importation issues, but they arrived healthy, and all of the plants are lovely, healthy and most very large for the money (average price was 12-15US$). THe Masd. davisii is kindof small for the $30 price, but then again, it is a hard to find species, and one I've been looking for for five or six years. Now, if I could just get my hand on a Masd. welischii...

You can find Columbian Orchid Imports on Orchid Mall. Gary Meyer is the proprieter, and his columbian source is Columborquideas Ltd. WOnderful selection of LOTS of pleuros and various other things, as well.

I have had good experiences with both Mountain Orchids (VT) and Parkside (PA). Mountain has a lot of pleurothallids. -- Bill

I heartily second the recommendation of Colombian Orchid Imports. I have bought a good many plants from them and all are large for the price (blooming size) and amazingly healthy. Yes, you have to wait for the plants to arrive and clear US customs, but it's worth it. BTW, the plants are all commercially grown, not wild collected. For masdie hybrids, try Lynn's Pleurothallids.

Don't Orchid Zone sell them online as well? I think they breed them, so they probably do have some available.

I'm surprised you couldn't find any either.

Try these places, not sure if they all have them but I'm pretty sure most of them do.......

J&L Orchids J&L Orchids ~ Home Page jlorchid@snet.net
Golden Gate Orchids Orchidmania - Golden Gate Orchids tperlite@sbcglobal.net
Orchid Zone
Lynn O'Shaughnessy Orchids of the Pleurothallid Alliance freespirit@pleurothallids.com
John Leathers
Hoosier Orchids Hoosier Orchid Home Page orchids@hoosierorchid.com
Komoda Orchids Orchidmania - I.N. Komoda Orchids Inc. orchidhi@maui.net

I'm sure they also have websites (well most of them do).

Good luck with your searching.

Oh man! Bolero! Why bring up Orchid Zone... I've been trying to get a contact email for ever. Could it be that he doesn't have email? Amazing orchids, annoying labeling!
