| Atlanta Botanical Gardens
We drove to Atlanta a few weeks ago for my daughter's graduation from Law School. Success! While there, we hit the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. How incredible! The Orchid House has two sections, one for tropicals, and one side for more temperate plants. It was all stunning, and so well tended. Here's a few pics - the last one is of the pitcher plants in the little bog just outside the Orchid House - absolutely lovely. There were 7 varieties of pitchers in there.

One double picture in there. They did have some for sale but we had a car full with our stuff and 2 dogs, so nothing came home. The plants for sale were quite beautiful as you can imagine! The 5th picture in the first group was a variety of Vanilla, according to a volunteer.

And More. The close-up of the Nepenthes in this batch is just one of a whole huge wall of them, as shown in picture #4 in the second batch - look closely and you'll see all of the pitchers hanging in the air.

Cool! Looks like you had an awesome trip. I LOVE that vanilla in the first group. I saw the picture and was wondering what it was-the vine looked like a vanilla, but I had never seen the flower with a dark red/purple lip. Thanks for letting us know! |

Lovely photos. I just love Botanic Gardens. My favorite pics would be of the pitcher plants. I am thinking of putting a big bowl of them in the fern garden now. I have a nepenthes a bit like the one in the last lot of pics. |

the real question is: does she have a job?

Janet - that IS the big question. Emory usually has placement of over 90%. This year it's 40%. My daughter had been promised a job with her internship but the money was cut and a few of the already employed attorneys lost their jobs. So now she's competing with previously employed, ie. experienced attorneys for the few jobs there are.

just tell her not to buy a house or have a baby just yet.

Very beautiful pictures! I've been to several botanical gardens around the country but never to the one in my own city but I will. Have to start appreciating the beauty in my own backyard. Thanks for sharing!
