Talking The Arrival

Ordered from Oak Hill on Tuesday April 1st, April Fool's Day. Arrived on Friday April 4th.

I ordered:
Phal amboinensis
Koellensteinia graminea

These are the pics from their arrival. Was very pleased as this was my very first purchase from Oak Hill.

Put in my order Monday 3/24/08 and received my box Friday 3/28/08. I was surprised by the size of the box for two plants. Not only was it a large box, but a DOUBLE BOX.

Can't see anything but some paperwork on top and a box of peanuts - feels kind of light too - I wonder if they forgot to put the plants in there? Down at the bottom were two rolled up cylinders of newspaper.

I carefully unwrapped the two cylinders and sure enough there were two little plants in there. Phalaenopsis amboinensis and Paphiopedilum spicerianum.

All unwrapped and ready to place with my other plants until I decide how to repot them.

The look very healthy but I will say they are a little smaller than what I was expecting - NOT complaining however.
My first order from Oak Hill as well - customer service excellent.

Connie~ My roots weren't the greatest, but they wasn't dead or dying. My plant lost two leaves and seems to have stalled. I'm not too thrilled either. Like watching water boil when the fire isn't lit.

Jenny I ordered a Phal Brother Pumpkin that came in the same box and it had four frozen leaves. The other plants (including the Naples Night) seemed okay but ya never know. Along with the really bad root system I'm more then concerned for this one. It will be a good test for all of us to get this one to thrive.

BTW - Oak Hill gave me a full refund on the frozen Phal and let me keep the plant. They could not have been more gracious and apologetic. Everything was well wrapped, as always, but she said they have no control over where in the truck a box is placed. She advised me to cut off the most injured parts and hope for the best. So far, so good.
