Here they are

For my part I chose Naples Nights (I got two of those) and Cathy Beck, plus three others. Here's the group shot....

Hmmm.... This is my first attempt at using Photobucket. Let's see if it works.

Wow! That's awfully big....

Alright then. Left to right, here's what I got:

Phalaenopsis Naples Nights
Bc (Llittle Stars x Maikai) 'Hawaii'
Blc Chyong Guu Chaffinch
Dendrobium Cathy Beck
Phalaenopsis Naples Nights (the 2nd)
Blc Aloha Case x Hunting Island

The Naples Nights came potted in sphagnum. The first looks quite healthy

If I can find the Naples hospital that's where I'm sending the second.

It's got a certain charm... a little like a sailor with semiphore flags. But seriously, can I, should I try to coax that leaf back to vertical? Jenny tells me to paint the cut with peroxide and cinnamon. I'll do that. But the horizontal flag?

The Cathy Beck looks good. I see a little spike from a previous bloom (hard to believe at its size). It's loose in its bark, but I'm not sure yet how to repot it. I have some bark, perlite, charcoal mix... but my smallest empty pot is 4" and too large I think.

The plant on the far right in the group shot is the Blc Aloha Case. It's not looking too happy right now. Any suggestions?

Oh my your Cathy Beck is 10X the size of mine!! I have one tiny pseudobulb, two little leaves and could pot it in a thimble.

The leaves on my 'semiphore' Naples Nights have been getting soft, so I've taken a plunge and put it in S/H. I'll post pictures later and let you know what happens.

I really like the look of the Phal Naples Night. Where did you get it from? I think I would like to have that one.
I like Phal's but not as much as other orchids, but that Naples Night has got beautiful leaves.

Thanks!

Norm, if that spot on your Blc is squishy, and spreading, I would cut out the bad spot and treat with cinnamon. The rest looks like mechanical damage.

Norm~ your semiphore Phal there should relax over time. You did S/H? Have to see it. I debated on doing this to this Phal and the species project Phal that I have. I'm interested, very interested.

Thanks Brook. No, it's not squishy. What I meant was that all the leaves are soft and pliable compared to the other Naples Night I got at the same time. That softness was my signal to try something radical, so into the S/H.

I'm very curious too. I'll take some pictures and post them on Saturday. I was a little clumsy, damaged some roots, but more on that later.

Norm, the leaf on that one Phal. should straighten out in time. I've got one Phal. whose top leaf also, would do the same thing. It would straighten out then flop again. So long as the leaves have substance and aren't too soft, nothing to worry about.

The Dend. CB can go into a 4" pot if that's the smallest size you have. Add more peanuts than you normally would and not just on the bottom of the pot. I would probably fill the pot 2/3 up with peanuts and the rest, bark. I've seen great results with s/h, especially Jay's but I find that Dends are happiest when dry, more so than Catts. Let us know what you do with this one.
