My Arrivals

I received my package on April 10th. Everything arrived well packaged and healthy. I was very excited to get the worm tea. I've never used it before, but I've got high hopes it's going to help some of my bare root Vanda's. I've been planning a mount that would include several miniatures and Den. Cathy Beck seemed like a good choice for one of them. The other orchids I purchased from Jerry were Paph lowii and Blc. Lucille Lundberg 'Yellow Sky' I took a few arrival pics and some after I was done with the mount.

The other orchids on the mount are Sedirea Japonica, and Bulbophyllum barbigerum. I purchased both of those at the 2008 Pacific Orchid Expo.

I'll post the pictures as soon as that option has been added.

AK, I am curious. Since you can't put your mounts outside, what kind of area do you have to spray your mounted chids?

I love to mount orchids. It does mean that I have to water them more often so I do try to limit what I mount. I'll post some pictures of mounts that I've made in a new thread. A few of my mounts do go outside in the summer, however most stay inside. I water all of them by "dunking" them in a bucket of water. Typically they get watered every other day. I make sure all of my mounts are small enough, or are mounted in a way that it can still be submersed. Most of them are over an area that can stand some dripping, the few that are hanging over carpet, I've put a drip tray down. If one of my orchids (typically a phal) starts to grow leaves in wild directions or is having problems with roots rotting, I mount it. So far the orchids all love it, and I love the natural look they give off. I've only been disappointed with one mount, and that's not because of the plant, but what I chose to mount it to. It was early on in my mounting days that I mounted a seedling that I purchased at my orchid society. I used some sort of fern, or twigs smashed together into a square shape. The material started to break down from day one, and has only gotten worse. Fortunately the orchid seems to like it, I just hate little twigs breaking off every time I grab it. I learned my lesson and have not mounted anything else to that material.

I wasn't sure if I should post the pictures here or in the Cathy Beck thread.
