Low light - medium light - it is all in the eys of the beholder. Both sources probably meant the same with different interpretations.

Oncidium alliance plants need 2000-2500 foot candles of light, Phalaenopsis 1500, Dendrobiums and Cattleya about 3000-3500. Noon day summer sun is about 10,000 foot candles.

The Nellie can go closer to the window if the Phals are not suffering.
