You keikis were also at the top of the cane, so many commercial growers cut part of the cane and burry it with the roots. It is the methd I like.

You might fear rot in the cut cane but I very seldom see any problems.

I believe the piece of cane gives the keiki something to use for strength. It may not be true, but I seem to get better success and faster growth with this method.
