I apologize, but I have to disagree with this. Sort of.

Phals love constant slight airflow over them. CONSTANT. This prevents fungus from growing and also helps dry out the medium to prevent rot. If you were to put a Phal near a doorway, especially in bud, you have a chance of blasting the buds. (Sudden drafts, especially cool ones, will cause this. ) Phals are picky and don't like sudden changes. As for lighting, Patticake is right. Bright, indirect, diffused light is the best for Phals.

I have mine facing East, no curtains. I live in Indiana.
