Encyclia pseudobulbs have a tendency to shrivel as they age. Usually it is after the new growth. Mounting often causes it to happen faster.

That is one of the reasons I say that mounting often delays the first flowering. Those bulbs will probably never flower but it was unlikely they would have flowered anyway. You should see new growth soon and they will appear normal until flowering and then shrivel somewhat as well.

Mounted orchids do need water on a more regular basis than potted plants.

This photo is from last year. The plant was two years older than the project plants. It is hard to see but the three pseudo bulbs on the right flowered the year before and are shriveled. The two in spike are plump and the two new ones on the left are just forming.

This year my lanai is under construction and the plants are not getting watered regularly, plus getting sprinkled with cement grindings. The two pseudobulbs on the left are now both in spike but the buds are not forming well on one and all bulbs are slightly shriveled. This time it is lack of water.
