Ok, so I really, really didn't want to repot my new phals since they had so many unopened buds and multiple spikes. But I have a lot of trouble keeping these gursh durn things alive in my house, and as I posted a few days ago, I really want to grow indoors, not just outdoors.
So, Articuno (sp?) said that a lot of times the root rot happens b/c the plants are packed with a huge lump of sphagnum moss right under their crown, and lo and behold! I pulled all of my new plants out of their respective pots to check this out and voila! They already had roots rotting! 2 days old! So now I feel that maybe I am nhot totally to blame for the demise of so many indoor orchids...they simply don't dry out fast enough as they do outside I guess. I repotted all of them, and one is a little sad

His bottom leaf is getting wrinkly and limp and yellowing a bit. However, he still has lots of good roots left and nice new phal medium to grow in, so I have hope!
Thanks so much for all the great advice, I am running my indoor fans and opening the shades so the kids can get their sunbaths in the a.m. I hope they make it!
On a better note, my red catts opened this morning. Yay!
