| Jean,
Orchid seeds are found in the ovary behind the flower. They develop after the stigmatic surface of the flower is pollinated and the resultant pod grows anywhere between a few months to a year (or more). The seeds generally require a very specific environment in order to germinate and grow, and are often grown in sterile flasks with sterile media. It is not a simple procedure, nor one that lends itself to doing it without certain equipment and "aseptic technique". There are many websites that will provide lots of information about orchid hybridizing and germinating orchid seeds. Trying doing a search and looking at those sites to get a better idea of what's involved. |
