| Hi Sara, when you say orchid soil, do you mean actual dirt? If this is something that is like dirt, well, umm, dirt is not good for Phals, it will hold too much moisture against the roots. I hate to say that after you worked so hard, but it is not good. I do know a member that uses peat moss to good effect on her plants, but I consider her an expert, and I don't think I would ever attempt it. She also lives in a very dry climate. Could you clarify? Also, the pots are great, but you will want to make sure the water is not standing in the attached trays, cause standing water can encourage root rot. They look so much better.

"If nature ever showed her playfulness in the formation of plants, this is visible in the most striking way among the orchids. They take on the form of little birds, of lizards, of insects, a man, a woman, sometimes like a clown who excites our laughter. They represent the image of a lazy tortoise, a melancholy toad, an agile, ever-chattering monkey. Nature has formed orchid flowers in such a way that, unless they make us laugh, they surely excite our greatest admiration." Jacob Breynius
