use both. when i repot, if the roots are questionable, i basically submerge the bare root plant in H2O2 for ten mins or so. if i suspect a plant is getting crown rot (-shudder-) i pour straight H2O2 into the top every few days for a couple weeks. i then dust some cinnamon on as well.

don't overdo the cinnamon on roots, as it has drying properties, but otherwise both remedies basically have no side effects. (and they're cheap. and you don't have to worry about disposal of weird chemicals.)
