I have a problem

I am a newbie here on site and I bought 3 plants: a Phal, a Myltonia and the last one a Zygopetalum.... The first and the last are doing ok but I have a problem with Myltonia....
When I bought it I didint realize that the roots where VERY damaged from over-watering (most of them where already black and the 3 leaves turned yellow quickly)..... I browsed the internet and I thought that the best way to save it was to use the s/h system..... so I cuted off most of the roots (the damaged ones of course) and I put it on a pot with s/h. And for the next 2 weeks I used only water once a week...but now I think that it wasnt enough.....
so I think that I should use water with fertilizer maybe twice a week.....
what do u think? is it a good ideea or not?
