Welcome, Lots of friendly people here.

Unless you are going to prepare the ground with a deep layer of rock I don't think it would be advisable to plant the cyms or most other orchids. Also the heat and cold will have an adverse affect on them. Most are planted in a mix that drains very quickly. If in the ground your roots will rot and the plant will die. Leave the cyms in their pots. In TX, the heat might be a factor in caring for them. They won't like all those 90+ days. A little sun in the morning and bright light the rest of the day. Depending on how cold your winter is, they may have to come inside for a few months. I am sure that someone that lives in TX will be able to give you more info on how to grow your orchids
