I applaud Leon on his excellent customer service in showing you how to repot! Since you found slugs, I think your leaf damage and loss was probably caused by the slugs. I too recommend taking Leon up on his offer to teach you how to repot and then do it. When you do, carefully examine the roots for slugs and little slug eggs which are tiny and white or cream-coloured.

I don't think applying rooting hormone ot the cuts will accomplish anything. I use powdered cinnamon.
