I soak mine overnight or sometimes I mix it up before I leave for work and pot-up when I get home. I use Schultz mix and soak in a light mix of worm tea.
I've used Better-gro, but the chunks are kind of big. I think that would be o.k. for larger plants, but most of mine are smaller and I find the Schultz mix works better with them. Good Luck!
