What I do is withold all water from my catasetinae after the plants have gone mostly dormant (or after New Year's, if they are still not going dormant). Once the leaves have all dropped, I remove all the medium from the pots and let them sit there bare root with NO water whatsoever until the new growths have roots at least 3 inches long. Then I pot them up again and start watering. This method seems to work, at least under my conditions. I noticed today that new growths are just starting on at least some of them.
