Hi everyone.I am a new member and live in the northeast of the UK.Your forum is great and just what I need.Over the last two years I have acquired approx 40 named varieties of Nobile Dendrobiums mainly dating back to 1984-6.
In the last growing season I tried hard to achieve the mature canes (ie hard at the tip)and to do this I had to maintain a night temp of 60F until Christmas,when most of the canes had completed.They had Peters Blossom Booster until the end of aug and then 0-10-10 until the canes were completed and no shading on the greenhouse after July.
I then dropped the night temp to 45FAnd stopped watering to initiatethe buds.Sadly only one plant set buds on the recently completeld canes.Other plants are setting buds on the previous years canes.
Is this what should happen (ie the recently completed canes will flower in 2009).
Also is there any way to hurry along the completion of the canes.
