Species Project - Poll

OK Geeks, whichever 2 plants are most favored in this poll, the runner up plant or a second poll to be conducted on Tuesday (and ending Thursday) by members wishing to participate in the project, will be waiting for us all when the final votes are in, at Oak Hill Gardens Oak Hill Gardens and elsewhere, for our members residing outside the U.S. The Orchid House - Vendors of Orchid Plants and related material, Orchid Vendors in the European Union, North of England Orchid Society - Nurseries in the UK, Orchid Vendors in the European Union

EXTRA, EXTRA....READ ALL ABOUT IT!

We will either conduct another poll after this poll ends or select the runner up plant to give members a chance and choice in selecting an alternative plant for the project. By urgings from other members, we'll have 2 plants in the species project. In fact, it will make the project much more interesting and give members a chance to take on a plant they'd alternatively prefer, should the winner in this poll be a disappointment to some of you.

Mike brought this up in another thread and it's a fantastic suggestion and makes more sense than I originally had when putting the project together. I wish I had thought of this before or that it was suggested early on but the good news is, this 2nd poll (or possibly choosing the runner up) doesn't delay the project whatsoever...had I thought of this before, we would still be right where we are now, waiting for the first poll to end before the 2nd one (or runner up) takes place. It's not too late to make improvements and this is just too great an idea to keep members (myself included) happy with a second choice.

If there is a tie in this poll, members wanting either winning orchid, should in fairness, be able to purchase either one. It then becomes foreseeable that if there are these 2 choices, then another 2 choices will be available in round 2. I believe there will be enough people growing each of the choices to make this interesting and a great way to become confident with species. I can hear in my head, the question, "well then if that is the case and there are 4 all together to pick if there's a tie, then why not keep it at 4 even if there isn't a tie?" If it becomes paramount, then you can all decide amongst yourselves and get back to me on it, ok? This isn't my project, just my suggestion for one.

Anyone who does not participate in the poll, will still have the opportunity to get in on the project. There will be enough plants for everyone to buy. (I just received confirmation from Oak Hills.) Once both polls end and you've placed your orders, would you please let me know? Fred will be setting up sub forums (by members names) for easy referencing and navigation.

So, hold off on purchasing your plants (unless, the one you wanted to win, does!) until the second poll is conducted.

I recognize that this has been an evolving project/process and I've been doing my utmost to please every one and still keep it as a viable, fun project to do together. Thank you all so much for your support along the way with all the little changes that have occurred. We're getting there though....thanks to every one of you!
