| I just deflasked 2 flasks last week. After searching for info, I ended up doing the following to get the seedlings in to the media.
I used an 8" x 8" seedling tray which has holes in the bottom. Poured the media in to the tray and then placed the filled tray in to a larger tray and filled with water. The media in the smaller tray becomes a slurry where you can easily move the media around (it's basically floating). I then placed each of the seedlings at equal intervals in to the media slush and tucked the roots down using a glazed chopstick. Once all the seedlings are in the tray, lift the tray out of the water and the media settles down around the roots nicely.
I then dumped the water out of the larger tray... placed the smaller tray back in it and covered.
Sure hope that makes sense!
Note: I used the same principal to get the next flask in to 2" pots. |
