Question root probs-how do I get them to grow???

I don't know what to do but alsot of my orchids seem to have a lot of dead roots either from too much rain or if they are inside either too much or not enough watering. I do use superthrive with my orchid food and when I water. I live in south fla & it rains A LOT. My new plants that I get sometimes bare root have poor root growth and alot of squishy yucky roots with the string inside, I get them in good health so I know it's me or something I'm doing. I've heard people say that 'tomato set has auxins' which are supposed to help root grow but I'm not sure what that is or where to find it. I would really appreciate any suggestions I'm getting desperate. I just put in an order to dynagro for... KLN, root gel,and the silicon solution. please any reccomendations ....
I must say that I really take your info to heart and find it very very helpful. My orchids and I are very grateful.
