I have absolutely no experience with Paphs...but I saw a Paph. Maudiae at Trader Joe's tonight...looked excellent. I'd say go for it if somebody confirms that it is a fine beginner's plant
If you are worried about it surviving shipping, you could wait for it to warm up a bit (Hausermann's is in Illinois). I had two shipments of orchids this week, both arrived fine, but the weather was pretty nice.
