The long term (4-5 days?) drawbacks to unvented gas heaters are higher humidity and CO2 levels and ethylene gas.The higher humidity could result in condensation on your glazing and dripping on your plants; The buildup of ethylene gas can cause wilting of the plants even though they have been well watered.
If you don't want to use poly on your floor you might try a weed barrier (cloth) underneath the gravel. It will drain and still prevent weeds from growing.
