Fragrance is not uncommon in dendrobiums. My Den tetragonums smell a bit like vanilla and my Den Yukadarumi (sp?) smells like raspberry with peppercorns. Also I've grown Den antenatum and that is fragrant as well. I mention antenatum because sometimes this or other antelope dendrobiums are used in breeding the complex hybrids like yours.
