I don't think this would happen in nature. I think the spiking from the crown is a mutation resulting from multi-generation complex hybridizing. From what I have read, I do not think Phals in the wild bloom off secondary spikes like hybrids do in cultivation.
BTW, Phalaenopsis is
always capitalized as it is a generic name (genus).
