You have what is called a keiki. It is growing from the cut part of the spike and it is common. Some phals will produce keiki upon keiki this way, Phal pulchra is one that comes to mind. When it's roots reach a length of about 2 inches you can remove it and pot it, then you have another plant the same as it's mother. Pikevi has one that he has wrapped the roots in sphag and mesh so as to facilitate it going into medium more easily. Maybe he will weigh in on this with his technique.
