If Maine is in US (highschool geography ) You could have a long way to go with the den. Most dens will have a rest, or at least, slow down growth in the Winter.

My advice would be to not fertilise now as we're in autumn, as it can force the plant to grow now, and suffer later in spring.

I know it sounds silly, but as long as it has roots and leaves, giving it a rest is the best option.
