| I would not give up on your Den. Leaves on Dens are not terribly important appendages, especially this time of year. I'd cut off the spike with a sterile tool, and let the plant get very dry between watering, like when it is dormant. When you seen new growth from the bottom, start to water again. You will probably have a great growth next year, and plenty of flowers a year from now.
