| stiff hard leaves and small pseudo bulbs sounds more Cattleya alliance and the photo looks like Bassovola or one of its hybrids, with its long pencil leaves.
It certainly does not look like an Oncidium
Bassovola are normally 6-8 inches tall and Cymbidiums kMarch suggested are usually much bigger. The pot looks deeper than normal for Bassovola and, if it is a 6 inch pot, I would lean toward a young Cym.
