well, i don't know what Ohio summer/winter is like, from what i hear it's hot and wet, and cold and wet
i believe the proposed winter location would be just fine for a cymbidium. you may want to watch for sunburns due to the glass effect, but otherwise it should be ok... i'm sure our resident cymbidium expert fred would be happy to enlighten us further...
i kept my cymbidiums in a 1x5' south-facing privacy window (refracted, not tinted) all summer and they put on new growth and seemed to tolerate it. next summer i'll be venturing them to the north-side patio to increase the light exposure. over-winter i think they require far less light, more of a dormant stage for them.
