| I don't know about Wisconsin, but in the Pacific NW moss grows like crazy and is considered a weed that people go to great lengths to get rid of, not grow. On my property near Seattle, I have many areas where moss grows naturally, and I like the way it looks. What you need to grow moss is shade and moisture. If you clear your area and leave it alone, the moss will eventually come. In the meantime, however, you will have to get rid of other weeds by pulling them out. Transplanting moss usually doesn't work, even in ideal conditions.
A final word: I'm not sure that moss on a path is a good idea if the path is intended for walking on. I would keep it to the sides and put some sort of stone, gravel or wood chips on the path. |
