I recently left for 11 days and did not trust any one to water my orchids, so did as Jerry said above. They did just fine without me.

I have a practice of re-potting phals as soon as I get them home, blooming or not. I am very gentle and don't so a lot of root surgery, but I want them in the same media as all my other phals. I also want to take a look at the roots because too many times they are half rotten from the grower. If you were able to find a blooming phal this time of the year it was probably grown and potted as a 'gift' plant, and these very often are not potted to stay around for the long run.
Bottom line! if you have time to re-pot before your vacation, do so. If not, it will be fine until you get back! Happy vacation!
