Does your Dendrobium have a name tag ?
please do not cut the old canes off your Dendrobium at this point.
Unless they are soft and mushy or shriveled up dry brown looking colour.
If there are no leaves on a helathy green cane you may also get flower spikes.
a pic of your plant would also help.
