| lighting question
o.k. I know vandas are strap kind, semi-terete, and terete kinds.
I believe I have all 3 kinds. I want them to have good light. so this is to ask about vanda and it's light requirement.
My growing area being roofed veranda facing north, I only got direct sunlights only during early morning and late afternoon. I have my cattleyas in the area where they will get about 30 min of late afternoon direct sunlight. My phals, I once again removed them to outside, are under the wall so they are getting enough light without having any direct light to touch them throughout the day. and my dendrobiums are either strapped to the wire fence up against the wall (intentional set up for that purpose) or the opposite side of the wall so they get some brightness but minimal direct lights. Many are blooming so I believe they are doing o.k.
O.k. back to my vandas. With exception to teret kinds, most of my vandas are placed just like my dendrobiums. I am rather afraid that they don't get as much direct sun as I would like them to have.
My Vanda Mimi palmer is spiking even though I believe it doesn't get as much light as I would like it to have. Should I relax a bit and stop worrying about my vanda and sun lights now that they are spiking? or should I try to find a way to supplement the light?
I think I am rather over reacting but, well they can't talk.. so they are totally depending on me for their survival.. I would like to try my best.  |
